The Original Tamagotchi Is Making A Comeback And We've Got All Sorts Of Nostalgia

The Original Tamagotchi Is Making A Comeback And We've Got All Sorts Of Nostalgia

Anyone who grew up in 90s should prepare for a whole lot nostalgia as the original Tamagotchi is making a huge comeback.

The hugely popular toy launched in America 21 years ago after its initial release in Japan in 1996, for making its way overseas to the UK.

Now, the egg-shaped toys will be available for pre-order from 30th September for $19.99 (£15.15) which is a far cry from the £9.99 we used to pay from Argos, but it has been a few years after all.

The new Tamagotchis will come in eight new colours and eight vintage styles and we're so ready to relive our childhoods.

While the pixelated design dates back long before the complex games that children can play today, it's thought that the retro style will draw 90s kids straight back in, and if you think we're going to buy several then you'd be absolutely right.

The re-lease is expected to be rolled out in two different generations, with generation one being required to guess the pet's next move while generation two will feature a guessing game.

A representative from the Japanese toy manufacturer behind the Tamagotchi, Bandai, told Hype Beast: "Bandai has decided to bring back the original Tamagotchi with some new additions that will keep the classic look and feel of the original game, but the new colours that will bring the device to life like never before."

Those who were lucky enough to own a Tamagotchi will know that it was all about hatching a digital creature that you had to look after in the same way you'd care for a pet.

Users have to feed their digital pet with a meal consisting of a rice bowl or a snack before cleanign up their mess when they go the toilet.

If users don't look after their Tamagotchi properly, it can get sick and die. So sad.
