We all know the struggle of sneaking alcohol into festivals to avoid being paying eye-watering amounts at the bar.

We've tried everything, from hiding it in soft drinks bottle, at the bottom of our bags, in our waistbands and even concealing our tipples in sports bras and umbrellas. Even so, security teams across the nation are wising up to our tricks - and being caught out could leave us kicked to the curb.

But one mum discovered a trick that even the young ones would be miffed they didn't think of - disguising her booze as birthday gifts.

Georgia, from Manchester, shared her mother's clever methods on Twitter, revealing how she disguised two bottles of wine by wrapping them up in birthday gift wrap, complete a gift bag, to try and get them into an 80s-themed festival in their hometown.

She even wrote a loving message on the tag to her non-existent friend 'Shellie', telling her to have "a wonderful 40th," signing it off "from Kris and the girls."

Her daughter explained the story on Twitter, saying: "My mums sneaking 2 boxes of wine into an 80s festival by disguising them as birthday presents for a non existent friend called shellie the f*cking lengths this woman goes to for a cheap bev."

Georgia then shared a screenshot of her mum having successfully sneaked into the festival, with her disguised alcoholic goods.

Her mum text her daughter saying: "Omg was so easy didn't even check ha xxx [sic]."

The people of Twitter praised the woman calling her a "genius" and a "legend". One called her "a woman of the people" while another said "we have a long way to go," to their pal.

It takes a bit of pre-planning and the wrapping paper and balloon will cost you a few quid bit, but it's better than being charged £9 a pop for a gin and tonic, isn't it?
