US Lush Stores Re-Release Shark Fin Soap In Celebration Of World Oceans Day
The aquatic themed cleansing bar has experienced high in demand amongst fans of the luxury cosmetic store. So naturally we are all buzzing that it's back.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the product, it combines deeply exfoliating sea salt with the softening powers of Arame seaweed and lime oil. Of course in a shape resembling a shark. Cute AF if you ask me.
These handmade delights also denote a heart-warming tribute to the late filmmaker Rob Stewart, whose work includes the award winning documentary Sharkwater, which raised awareness about the mass amount of the species being killed to produce shark fin soup. Stewart tragically died whilst filming his third feature about sharks.
Brandi Hall, Director of Brand Communications at the cosmetic company, explained why the relationship between Lush and Stewart was so important:
Rob believed that it was everyone's duty to protect our oceans. By re-launching Shark Fin soap, supporting the foundation and continuing to engage our customers on ocean protection, we hope to help his vision live on for years to come.
100% of the profits from sales from Shark Fin Soap go towards supporting Stewart's conservation work.
At $5.95 per bar, we are definitely on board to help the cause.
Lush will continue to sell the limited edition product across the US until they reach their ultimate goal of $250, 000.
All funds raised will aid the completion of Stewart's film Sharkwater: Extinction, whilst also backing Canadian Senator Michael McDonald's S-238 Bill, which intends to ban the importing of shark fins.
Personally we are all about supporting a good cause, and let's be honest these are a killer bath-time accessory.
Fin-tastic if you ask us!
