"Embrace your individuality. Love what you love without worrying about judgement."

In a wold full of Snapchat and Instagram filters, it can be difficult to remember what we actually look like.

Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of men also suffer with the same problem, and have the shock of their lives when a female turns up to a date without a dog's nose and rainbow sick pouring out of their mouth. THE HORROR.

With influences like Love Island and Keeping Up With The Kardashians saturating social media, us women are often told that we should aspire to have flawless skin and perfect make-up at all times, and anything other than that just won't do.

Now Little Mix's Perrie Edwards has issued us an important reminder that it's okay to embrace natural beauty, and she's leading by example.

Sharing a make-up free selfie of her freckled face on Instagram, she wrote: "Growing up I was always insecure about the freckles on my face. Over the last couple of years I've started to embrace them and don't feel I need to hide them anymore.

Clearly inspired by Perrie's decision to ditch the make-up and flaunt her beautiful freckles, fans rushed to praise the singer.

"Each of us is beautiful. We show it in various ways. But still the soul stays with us forever. Beauty passes away. And you, Perrie, are a beautiful, natural and nice person," commented one admirer.

Another added: "I look up to you so much, thank you."

"So beautiful. I love your freckles so much," wrote a third.

While a fourth gushed: "Our self confidence make us understand that we have to embrace and be proud of our bodies, our skin and our self. 'Cause We Are Who We Are and there is nothing better in this world!"

This isn't the first time Perrie has shared a photo of her natural skin. Earlier this year, the singer posted an image of herself enjoying an exotic holiday away, where she proudly flaunted her freckles and a scar on her stomach.

Posing in a large floppy hat and with two starfish covering her chest, the 25-year-old captioned the image: "Mermaids have freckles and scars too... embrace them. I think they're beaut!"

In 2016, Kylie Jenner, too, set out to show off her freckles to the world in a defiant Instagram post.

Hitting back at critics who had claimed she doesn't show off her natural skin often enough, she shared a photo of her bare face for all to see.

Under the image, the KUWTK star wrote: "Saw someone comment why I don't embrace my freckles anymore. So here's a freckle appreciation post."

American singer Kesha is also a member of the freckle appreciation society, and is known for her make-up free selfies on Instagram.
