There's A Reason Why Couples Have Their Own 'Language'

You might be afraid to admit it, but I'm going to bet my Tesco meal deal that you and your other half use pet names for each other.

In fact, I bet (secretly) you can't remember the last time you called them by their actual name. Unless of course they've been in trouble lately.

However, it turns out it's actually a sign of a great relationship.

According to Scientific American, who looked at a study in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, although they can often sound pretty ridiculous, nicknames create a sense of intimacy between partners and the two of you end up creating your own little world that nobody else understands.

Sounds about right, doesn't it?

Carol Bruess, author of the aforementioned study, said:
