My philosophy on shopping is pretty simple - if it looks like you've spent good money on it, it really doesn't matter whether you actually have or not. People tend to get caught up chasing specific labels and they're prepared to pay extortionate amounts of money for those labels. But if you can get a knock-off for a fraction of the cost and no one can tell the difference, why wouldn't you?
Frankly, in my opinion, if you're prepared to pay five times as much for a big brand name when you could get the exact same thing much cheaper, it's not a sign of class, it's a sign that you're a complete mug.
For that reason, I'm a big fan of the excitement over Aldi's latest 'special buy', a luxury scented candle costing £3.99. There are three different versions of the 290g candle coming in Pomegranate Noir, Freesia & Pear, and Lime Basil & Mandarin scents.

But the best thing about this particular product is that it smells exactly like Jo Malone's fancy celebrity-endorsed candles. But the thing is that Jo's candles cost £44 for 200g. So you're getting nearly 30% more candle for 90% less money.
Aldi's version even lasts a bit longer, burning for 48 hours while Jo's only last for 45. Suck it, Jo Malone.
An Aldi spokesperson told The Sun said that customers should snap up the knock-off candles as quickly as possible because they won't be restocked once they're sold out:
Our weekly Specialbuys are always popular with customers and these candles are expected to fly off the shelves. We would urge customers to be quick because once they're gone they're gone!
John Davis at European Flavours & Fragrances (EFF), the people who make Aldi's candles, said:
Not only do Aldi's premium candles equal the quality, strength and performance of high-end alternatives, but they are significantly larger than their premium counterparts meaning the fragrance is likely to be stronger, too.
Happy shopping, folks!
