Last week it was revealed that footballer Wayne Rooney had been caught 'cheating' on wife Coleen with 29-year-old Laura Simpson, after police pulled him over on suspicion of drinking under the influence.

Since then, the former England star is said to have issued his wife with an 'ultimatum', with reports suggesting he had wanted to Coleen to cut down on the amount of holidays she is taking in exchange for him reducing his alcohol intake.

Unsurprisingly, Coleen has also been spotted without her wedding ring, raising suspicions that the pair could have finally ended things for good.

However, pals close to the footballer now suggest that his childhood sweetheart will never leave him, though insist that money has nothing to do with it.

Speaking to The Sun, an unnamed friend revealed: "She loves him, but more than that, she loves family. Most of the time he's a good husband and a hands-on dad.

"Some years ago after one of his other idiotic drunken sprees she gave him a big lecture and he asked if she wanted to call it a day. She was forced to admit that divorce is not something she wanted to think about."

Coleen comes from a Catholic family, and likes to uphold some strict religious beliefs because of it.

Brothers Anthony and Joe McLoughlin are also friendly with Wayne, and are involved in several business ventures across Liverpool with the footballer.

Family values certainly seem to be important to 31-year-old Coleen, who appeared as proud as punch when son Klay attended his first day at school earlier this week.

Taking to Instagram, the WAG shared a snap of her four-year-old, who grinned at the camera in a striped black and yellow school uniform.

She captioned the image: "Big school for my gorgeous Klay!"

Unsurprisingly, many fans were quick to send their messages of love and support, with one writing: "Fabulously cute."

"So cute the spit of his dad," said somebody else.

With a third adding: "So cute. The uniform is just adorable."
