It's a well known fact that cheese can make any meal even better. Whether your food is undercooked, over-cooked, too spicy, not flavourful enough, it doesn't matter. Just slap a bit of cheese on there and it'll get 100% better.

But can the same approach work for seasonal traditions? If, for example, if we were to exchange eggs made of cheese rather than chocolate at Easter time, would that make life even better?

Well, we don't have any solid answers to that question yet, but we might be about to find out because this year you'll be able to buy a solid cheese Easter Egg to present to your friends and family. The egg costs £14.95 and is made of around 260g of the ever-popular Napier cheese.

You can also get some very special 'Nest Hampers' which contain some very fancy goodies including Peter's Yard Sourdough Crispbread and locally produced quince membrillo for £29.95.

The egg which has been dubbed a 'Cheester Egg' is the brainchild of food blogger Annem Hobson of So Wrong It's Nom (the same woman who is working on creating a cheese advent calendar which will be available in time for Christmas) who has partnered with an independent artisan cheese company called Wildes Cheese to create the product. You can see all the work that went into making the product here:

You can buy the egg online here or if you're based around London you'll be able to pick one up from London's Broadway Market, Alexandra Palace Market or Myddelton Road Market, or from the Wildes Cheese shop in Tottenham, London.

Annem explained that the cheese egg is a response to the over-abundance of chocolate eggs that are available these days:

Chocolate is okay, but it's a little boring and frankly I'm sick of seeing it dominating key retail periods.
Cheese is what excites me so I'm thrilled my plans for a Cheester Egg have finally hatched. There's a whole army of cheese lovers out there showing me their support.

To be fair, we love a bit of chocolate but there's definitely room for a few different variations! For example, we're absolutely in love with this gin Easter Egg!

What do you think? Would you be interested in a cheese Easter Egg? Sound off in the comments!
