Over the festive season our desire to sit on the sofa and eat a whole box of chocolates is definitely heightened.

Clearly supermarkets have clocked onto this, as large boxes of our favourite treats have started to appear, and our willpower is seriously being put to the test.

There's giant tubes of Jaffa Cakes, 30 bar variety packs of Reese's, and then the selection boxes which you just can't stop eating.

But now we have a new treat to indulge in, as Tesco is selling giant boxes of Malteser Truffles, and I'm going to need a bigger trolley for my next shop.

The boxes were spotted by one Instagram user in a local Tesco store for a very reasonable £7.

It might sound a little bit expensive, but if you ask me, you can't put a price on true happiness.

At 336g, you get just over six times the amount of chocolate compared to the small 54g box for £1.50, and over one and a half times more chocolate than the medium 200g box currently on offer for £3.50 (usually £5).

After the image of the truffles was shared online, social media users couldn't hide their excitement.

One user wrote: "I know what I'm treating myself to, Maltesers are life [sic]."

Another fan of the truffles said the box simply wasn't big enough, writing: "Not big enough they're amazing, make it giant [sic]." We 100 per cent agree.

With one box containing a staggering 1898 calories, sharing might be a good idea.

If you really want to treat yourself over Christmas, why not just buy a giant mince pie?

ASDA is selling the dessert for just £1.50, and it measures seven inches in diameter, three and half centimetres deep and weighs 435g.
