Tampon Macarons Are A Thing And They Are Helping A Great Cause

Macaron expert OhLaLa is known for its bespoke macarons and it has decided to put its skills to a charitable cause by creating macarons which look like just like tampons.

OhLaLa has partnered with charity, Bloody Good Period which aims to get rid of period poverty. The box of macarons are priced at £24.50 and £10 of each box sold will go directly to the charity.

On its website, OhLaLa wrote: "The world's first ever tampon macarons are a fun and irreverent way to celebrate a very good cause. 1 in 10 young women in the UK alone can't afford to purchase sanitary products each month, which affects their daily lives.

"Here at Ohlala we think that's bloody disgrace so we created this limited edition box of delicious macarons to help raise money for the brilliant charity Bloody Good Period."

For every single box of OhLaLa tampon macarons purchased, a month's supply of sanitary products will be bought for asylum seekers, refugees and women with low income.

The macarons are handmade in Bloomsbury and filled with fresh vanilla, raspberry or rose buttercream. Each tampon macaron has an edible blue string of raspberry for authenticity and two of every eight macarons will be blood red.

According to The Metro, OhLaLa Founder Meredith O'Shaughnessy said: "OhLaLa has always been about servicing women in a joyful way. 'We created the world's first tampon macarons to give back to women who need it most.

"By partnering with Bloody Good Period, we are raising awareness and providing supplies to asylum seekers to help end period poverty.

"I chose to work with like-minded organisations and after hearing about Gabby Edlin's great work, I knew I wanted to use my unique macaron creations to help raise money and awareness of period poverty, which still affects far too many women today."
