For those of you who are vegan or vegetarian, you'll know the pain as soon as someone mentions going to Subway.

The Meatball Marinara? Not a chance. Italian BMT? Nope. All we have is the veggie delight or possibly a tuna butty if you're a pescatarian.

But luckily the Subway gods have taken pity on us animal-friendly types, and have decided to introduce a vegan 'steak' option.

At the moment, they're testing the product in Finland. However, as we all know, McDonald's did the same thing with their vegan burger and is now rolling out the cruelty-free version across the world.

The new 'steak' is made out of red onion, red and green pepper, carrot, spinach, corn, white pepper, peas, green chilli and garlic.

Hopefully it'll be launched in the UK soon, but in the meantime we'll just have to settle for a salad. Great.
