New Cucumber-Flavoured Sprite Sounds Like Summer In A Sip
As the sun finally begins to show its face, we're all thinking about the exciting prospect of beer gardens, BBQs and chilling on the beach with friends.
But the one thing better than all of that lovely, sunny socialising is the food and drink that comes with it - from juicy burgers fresh off the grill through to refreshing drinks to cool down with.
Well, now Sprite has a released a brand new flavour that sounds perfect for the summer - Lemon, Lime and Cucumber.
Sounds refreshing already, right?
Adding a cooling cucumber hit to Sprite's classic citrus flavour, the new drink also contains no sugar, calories or artificial flavourings. Also sounds like it might make a pretty solid mixer for a gin or vodka in the sun, but that's up to you...
Rosalind Brown, Marketing Manager of Coca-Cola Great Britain said: "New Sprite No Sugar Cucumber is inspired by the fresh, zesty flavours that we know people crave when the hot weather hits. Just in time for summer, and best served ice cold, it has the same revitalising citrus taste as the original Sprite No Sugar, with the additional hint of cucumber. The new variant contains no sugar, calories or artificial flavours, so it's the perfect choice for ultimate refreshment."
This summer's drinks game is already shaping up to be a pretty strong one, with the recent news that Coca Cola would be launching slushie versions of Coke Lemon, Fanta Orange and Fanta Grape.
The Coke and Fanta slushies, which 9GAG reports are being launched in Japan from 16 April at a recommended retail price of 130 yen ($1.21 / 86p) - so fingers crossed that they'll prove popular enough to get released elsewhere in the globe.
Burger King also recently joined the trend, with the announcement that it would be selling frozen Fanta lemonade. That one's sadly only available in the US, so if you're not Stateside you'll have to be patient and hope that the drink gets released elsewhere, too.
Then, of course, we found out that ASOS has started selling Slush Puppie machines so you can recreate that thirst-quenching classic at home.
The machines cost £59.99 online and they make up to one litre of slush at a time - just make sure you add your own syrup.
The website reads: "Fizz Creations gets the mood just right with its innovative range of home accessories. Not afraid to push the boundaries of design, the brand's trend-led lights and mugs are perfect for gifting yourself and your mates."
Man, we're all going to be SO damn refreshed this summer. Bring on the rays.
