How Accurate Is The Domino's Pizza Tracker? We're Getting Hangry Over Here

Some pizza fans claim the unique tracker is only a rough guesstimate but the company insists it's in real time - so what's the deal, Dom?

You know the feeling. It's Friday night, it's 8pm and you've got nothing in the fridge. "I'll order a pizza because it's quick," you tell your flatmate. Treat yo'self because: Friday. The tracker says your food is it's 'on its way' and you do an excited dance. But, an hour later your belly is still rumbling as you stand on your front doorstep willing the sound of a moped to emerge from the darkness.

Domino's

Fast-food fans have a theory: maybe the Domino's pizza tracker is only estimating when your pizza will arrive. Cue sirens, screaming and the collapse of society as we know it.

While it's not exactly Elvis being alive or the Queen being a lizard, as conspiracies go it's pretty f*cking annoying and probably impacts the start of your weekend a lot more heavily than HRH having scales underneath her skirt suit.

Threads on message boards like Reddit are alleging that the delivery time as an average rather than an actual indication of when the pizza is due.

Always the first to address the gritty issues that really matter, the title of one Reddit thread is: "Does the Domino's pizza tracker actually track your pizza or is it just a placebo?"

One user wrote: "Placebo. Definitely. The amount of times it has told me that my pizza was delivered when I was still waiting forced me to stop being lazy and go collect the pizza myself."

Another added: "It's an automated timer. Order a few pizzas and you'll see it's the exact same every time."

An anonymous customer told Metro they "once phoned them to query something regarding it and was told it's not accurate to your own order it just takes the average timing for each branch".

They explained: "It's an estimation tracker that is based on how busy the orders have been at that time... They log when they start and then that's it."

Another former employee agreed: "It isn't real."

But pizza giant Domino's insists that Dom tracks pizza delivery in real time.

A spokesperson said: "We're pleased to put these wicked rumours to bed!"

"Our Domino's pizza tracker is a live system based on real-time information in every kitchen.

"There's absolutely no estimating involved in the process.

"We're also rolling-out new innovations to further improve delivery time accuracy.

"With over half our drivers using GPS, many customers can now track their pizza from order, right through to when their doorbell rings."

I suppose we'll never really know. What do you think?
