Everyone loves a cheeky Nando's, and while it's not the priciest of eating establishments, there's no harm in saving a few quid on your Peri Peri chicken.

Nando's fans are always trying to find ways to wring some free food out of the Portugese-inspired chain, and savvy customers have been sharing some of the best money saving tips on Twitter.

If you're looking to save some money at Nando's, we've compiled some of the best tip to get the most chicken for your buck.

1. Get 20 per cent off
If you work for the NHS, emergency services or armed forces (or are dining with someone who is) then you will be able to benefit from 20 per cent off on the entire bill.

You'll only get a maximum of £4 off, but if you show a valid photo ID card before your order, you'll be able to get the discount on dining in and on takeaway orders placed in the restaurant. You can only use it once per day, but who's going to Nando's more than that?!

2. Make your own perinaise
If you want an order of Nando's iconic perinaise, it'll set you back 60p a portion. But according to Money Saving Expert, if you get a portion of regular mayonnaise from your server, it'll be free. You can then stir in a Peri-Peri sauce of your choosing from the condiments bar, and voila - you've got your very own Perinaise! And you can have as much as you want.

3. Get a loyalty card
Loyalty cards are free and can lead to tons of freebies if you're a frequent Nando's visitor, and according to the chain, tons of freebies go unclaimed every year.

If you've already got a Nando's card, it's worth checking online or instore to see if there's anything to claim that you've forgotten about. The Sun notes. For every £7 you spend you get a chilli, which goes towards free meals over time. Now, if you're famous, you can always pick up a black card...

4. Get more chicken for less
If your go-to order is a serving of butterfly chicken and you aren't squeamish about eating around bones, you can actually get way more chicken for less money by ordering half a chicken.

The half chicken costs £7.60 while the butterfly is £8.25, meaning that you save 65p. Additionally, according to Money Saving Expert, the half chicken has double the calories of the butterfly - meaning, presumably, you get twice as much chicken for your money.

5. Share a large fries instead of ordering two regular
If you're going to Nando's with a mate, chances are you were planning on getting your own separate fries. Well, it turns out that that's not actually the most economical way of doing things.

If you get a large fries to split between you, it'll cost £4.80, compared to £5.20 to order two separate portions. Not only that, but when Money Saving Expert tried it, they got 82 chips in the large chips compared to a measly 68 across two individual portions.

6. Order a platter to share
According to The Sun, you go out to eat with someone who gets the same order as you and it happens to be half a chicken, two drinks and sides, you can get the same thing for an entire £5.05 less by ordering a platter.

Two lots of chicken, chips and drinks will cost you £26, while a meal platter of a whole chickne, two regular sides and two bottomless drinks will only cost £20.95. That's a saving of £5.05 for the EXACT same meal! But if you're a vegan or dining with one, this won't work out that well.
