Imagine the scene: it's scorching hot on holiday and you've spent all day on the beach. Now you're heading back to your apartment for a nap before you head out - and grab an icy bottle of Fanta Grape Zero on the way to cool down. Now the refreshing, delicious flavour you know and love from your hols is coming to the UK.

Coca Cola

The flavour will be available from March in 2l and 500ml bottles, 330ml cans and 4x330ml packs. The flavour has been on sale in the US, Japan and other countries for years, but it's never come to the UK before.

Never tried it? Fanta grape is described as having a "lovely refreshing sweet crisp taste" that's "bursting with grape flavour."

The exciting launch will be supported by a £5m marketing investment on social media, digital and reaching customers in the streets - so expect to see it everywhere. There's also a nationwide sampling campaign aiming to reach almost a quarter of a million people. Where do we sign up?

Fanta explained that, after asking consumers on social media what flavour they wanted, grape is its most requested - presumably by people who've tried it abroad.

And the fact that it's in part of the Zero range will help retailers maximise on the demand for low-sugar soft drinks and possibly swerve the government's sugar tax.

Simon Harrison, vice president of commercial development at Coca-Cola European Partners explained: "Fanta is one of our leading brands. 33% of young adults aged between 16 and 19 drink Fanta in Great Britain and we know that innovative, great-tasting flavours are key to remaining relevant with this audience while attracting new shoppers.

"Combining the popularity of Fanta and growing demand for both flavoured and low-sugar carbonates, Fanta Grape Zero presents a fantastic opportunity for retailers to maximise their soft drinks sales."

The launch of a grape flavour follows the success of Fanta Zero's limited edition Blood Orange and Pink Grapefruit flavours last year.

Fans are excited about the arrival of the Grape flavour on social media, but some are curious about how it will taste.

One fizzy drink lover, who posted about the launch on hotukdeals.com, wrote: "Hopefully it won't just taste like fizzy Ribena..."

Some users were excited about the impending launch: "Thanks for the heads up! I shall be looking out for it"

Another said: "Shame it's only zero."

But on Twitter Fanta fans have been asking the brand to launch a Grape version for years.

One Twitter user wrote: "Why are all the best Fanta flavours sold outside the UK, why am I only tasting this grape flavour Fanta now omg."

Another tweeted: "Dear @fanta can you PLEASE hurry up and release your Grape flavour here in the UK? I'm fed up with us missing out."
