Absolut Are Hiring A Cocktail Taster To Travel The World Drinking

Jack Rear in  tasty

We all love a good cocktail. Whether you prefer the lighter more fruity flavours or you're a big fan of more alcohol-heavy flavours, there really is one for everyone.

There's nothing we enjoy more than a fine, well-made cocktail created by a professional. And if you can't get enough of them either then you'll be very excited to learn that Absolut are hiring someone to literally travel the world drinking cocktails.

The position is referred to as the brand's 'Sensory Expert' and the role is described as exploring 'all the ways spirits are sensed and experienced', which sounds like a pretty fruity way of just saying that you get to drink a lot.

Absolut's previous 'Sensory Expert', Per Hermansson has been on the job for four decades and has decided that it's time to call it a day. He's been dubbed the 'Billion Dollar Nose' due to his very sharp sense of smell which is necessary to ensure he can taste and smell cocktails to the highest degree.

But Per says that despite how fun the job is, it's not for everyone. He says Absolut require a person who is exceptional in a lot of areas:

This is one of the most complex jobs in the business - you need to be equal parts innovator, chemist, teacher, creator and ambassador.
This person not only needs to have the technical skills needed for the job, but a passion for creativity to keep Absolut on the forefront innovation.

Definitely sounds like more of a challenge than you might think but it also sounds like plenty of fun.

The job requires the candidate to travel around the world keeping up with food and drink trends but you'll be spending plenty of time in Ahus in Sweden, the town where Absolut sources all of their ingredients from!

According to the job description, candidates will require 'creative nose, a trend-sensitive tongue and a love of vodka'. We could do all that (especially the last one!) You'll have to be 'at one with your nose' and 'be able to break through the noise and really pay attention to those unconscious bodily sensations.' Yowzers.
