Women Are Wearing Anti-Engagement Rings To Promote Self-Love

Women are rebelling against the traditional concept of an engagement ring by wearing self-love pinkie rings.

There's no denying that an engagement ring is held in highest esteem in the world of bling, but the catch is that you need to have a significant other to receive one.

One jewelry brand wanted to celebrate a woman's independence, while also celebrating self-love, by creating Fred & Far.

Samira Far and Melody Godfred form America created gorgeous pinky rings made out of 14k yellow, white or rose gold.

Fred & Far only uses lab-created white sapphires to make sure the self-love rings are free of conflict, allowing customers to keep a clear conscience when committing to themselves.

Not only are the rings designed to look beautiful on the pinky, they're also made to make the wearer feel good about themselves as well.

"We were inspired by the engagement ring, which to date has been the only ring women wear to signify commitment," Samira and Melody told Racked.

"We decided to use the big bold design of an engagement ring and put it on the pinky, the most neglected finger on our hands, as a reminder to practice self love and care."

Each ring also comes with a heartfelt letter that tells wearers: "Woman. Reclaim yourself. Wear a symbol of belonging... to yourself.

"Engage yourself, in life, in love, in health...

"Shed the weight of uncertainty, of responsibility, or pain, of disappointment, of pressure.

"Commit to something better... choose happiness, choose love, choose power, choose fulfilment, choose choice.
