The world's most expensive shoes have gone on sale for an eye-watering £13 million, and they're only available for 50 VIP buyers.

For most of us, spending over £100 on a pair of shoes is considered a treat and a luxury, so these heels are way out of our budget.

The stilettos, made from gold and hundreds of diamonds, will be launched at the world's only 7-star hotel, the Burj Al Arab, in Dubai.

Even the labels inside the shoes are made from a thin layer of gold.

To make sure the owner buys a pair of shoes that are truly one of a kind, a prototype will be used for potential buyers to view.

One unique pair will then be made for the successful buyer in their shoe size.

Only 50 VIP guests have been invited to the launch today, and the shoes are set to top the £11.5 million asking price for a pair of Debbie Wingham high heels.

The shoes took nine months to design, and were created by Jada Dubai in collaboration with Passion Jewellers.

Maria Majari, co-founder and creative director of Jada Dubai, said: "Jada Dubai designs only shoes with diamonds. For the launch of our second collection, we wanted to create a piece that is truly unique in the world using very rare diamond.

"There will be only one pair of The Passion Diamond Shoes in the world.

"We had to prototype many shoes in Italy in order to find the perfect shape, perfect heel, the perfect colour for it. Even inside, the logos of both companies are made out gold, which is very thin, so it will be very comfortable for walking."

The shoes definitely wouldn't look out of place on the catwalk in fashion week, although we're not sure how practical they would be for the daily commute.
