Disney Villains Took Over The New York Fashion Week Runway

Disney Villains took over the New York Fashion week runway last week and the pieces are incredible.

Fashion designers The Blonds collaborated with Disney for their Spring/Summer 2019 collection which channels all of your favourite villains from Disney.

From Maleficent to Cruella De Vil the stunning pieces are the perfect look for when you're feeling a bit more evil than usual.

The Blonds creative director David Blond wrote in the show notes: "The villains are meant to be secondary characters, but they have always stood out to us because they have the best style, [and] the most personality."

Designers did their research and dug through the Disney Archive Research Library.

Their Cruella De Vil look was modelled by Paris Hilton who carried a teacup dog with her for full effect. The second piece had the villains face embellished on the dress complete with dramatic black and white furry fringes for her hair.

Makeup artist Patrick Starr fully embodied Ursula with with two models playing the sea witch's pet eels Flotsam and Jetsam.

Snow White's Evil Queen was a dramatic number with a shiny golden cape, adorned with a mosaic of Snow White's heart with a dagger through it.

Of course, the Disney Villain line up wouldn't be complete without Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

The look was styled around a sculptural bejeweled corset, complete with dragon horns and ripped jeans.

To design the collection, David and co-founder and designer Phillipe Blond asked: "If Cruella was an entertainer now and in the real world, what would she wear? What would her style be like?

"What drew us to working with Disney Villains are the complex attributes of the characters themselves. Often misunderstood, Disney Villains are flawed, imposing and mysterious, and we loved the idea of taking these characteristics and translating them in a glamorous way, making them the heroes of our story.

"The Disney Villains style is iconic and has inspired us since childhood and throughout our career. The opportunity to collaborate with Disney and see these designs come to life on The Blonds runway is an absolute dream come true."
