Second Episode Of 'Stalked: Murder In Slow Motion' To Focus On Hollie Gazzard

Tonight's episode of Stalked: Murder In Slow Motion is set to look at the tragic story of Hollie Gazzard who was murdered by her abusive ex-boyfriend in front of customers in her hair salon in 2014.

Hollie was just 20-years-old when she was killed by Asher Maslin, then 22, in Gloucester city centre five years ago this month.

The important Channel 5 three-part series, narrated by Kym Marsh, explores the true cases of three women who were all stalked and killed by their ex-partners.

Maslin was violent to Hollie through their relationship, but his behaviour grew increasingly more threatening when they separated.

Hairdresser Hollie had ended her relationship with the former security guard just days before he stabbed her to death shortly before the end of her shift in the salon where she worked.

Her customers and colleagues tried to help her, but Maslin warned them off. She was taken to hospital, but later died from her injuries and Maslin was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 24 years.

A statement from the broadcaster said: "More than a million people in Britain are the victims of stalking every year. In this chilling documentary series, close friends and family of young women killed by their stalker ex partners, tell the stories first hand of how romance turned to obsession, jealousy and a campaign of harassment that ended in brutal murder.

"Twenty-year-old Hollie Gazzard was stalked for months by her ex-boyfriend, before he stabbed her 14 times in broad daylight and in front of colleagues and clients at the hair salon where she worked."

Hollie's family and friends reveal in the documentary that they nor Hollie knew anything about Maslin's abusive past.

The statement continues: "In fact, Maslin had been arrested 23 times, on counts of escalating violence, including domestic abuse and grievous bodily harm. He was a serial perpetrator, and though he initially appeared to be good boyfriend material, his mask eventually began to slip."

Of the new documentary, Hollie's dad Nick told Gloucestershire Live: "It's always difficult to answer questions every time you do this. You have to go over everything of that traumatic event.

"It's always a constant reminder of what happened to Hollie but it's necessary to go through that pain to highlight the issue that Hollie went through."

Despite a home office-backed review published in 2015 finding that Hollie's death could not have been prevented, her family feel differently.

Her dad Nick previously said that there was strong and clear evidence of Maslin's violent history, meaning he felt her death was preventable.

He told Gloucestershire Live in 2015: "The report is not a surprise. It's good in the sense it does identify quite a number of areas where action is needed.

"This individual went on to kill and, with all the evidence beforehand, Hollie's death could have been prevented."

He added: "Two previous partners were abused and Hollie was a third. Neither of them pursued prosecution against him and that is worrying.

"If you look at what is said from all agencies, from my perspective there is strong a clear evidence this individual was going to kill."

Last week's tragic episode told the true story of Molly McLaren who was stalked and murdered by her ex-boyfriend of seven months, Joshua Stimpson, in 2017. Stimpson had a history of stalking ex-girlfriends, although this only came to light at trial.
