First Trailer Drops For Disney's Live Action Remake Of 'Mulan'

Disney is continuing to give the live-action treatment to all its beloved animated classics, as the franchise just dropped a first look trailer for the Mulan remake.

The new one minute, 30 second-long preview sees Chinese-American actress Liu Yifei take on the title role of Mulan from the 1998 film. "It is my duty to fight," she says in the new clip, which dropped on Sunday evening.

While the trailer brings plenty of nostalgia, some elements from the original animation are missing, including Mulan's beloved sidekick drago, Mushu.

However, the film will tell the same story of a young woman who disguises herself as a man to take her elderly dad's place in the military.

As per the official synopsis: "When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father.

"Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential.

"It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation...and a proud father."

The latest live-action remake from Disney is directed by Niki Caro, and just like the original flick, comes from the screenplay by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver and Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek based on the narrative poem The Ballad of Mulan.

Disney also dropped the official poster for the new flick, ahead of its cinema debut in March 2020.

Needless to say we cannot wait for this one!
