The BBC has shared the first trailer for the new series of Blue Planet. And this time, it's going to be live...

Presented by Liz Bonnin, Chris Packham and Steve Backshall, the series will kick off later this month on Sunday, 24th March at 8pm on BBC One.

"At this crucial time for our oceans, we dive deeper than ever before," explains the 30 second-long trailer, which takes viewers on a journey through the ocean. "Be there when it happens."

There will be four live episodes in three different locations across the week, exploring marine life and the health of our damaged oceans.

Yesterday, BBC One tweeted: "Four live episodes. Three different locations. One incredible week. In an exciting week of programmes, #BluePlanetLive will celebrate marine life around the globe to explore the health of our oceans. Starts Sunday 24th March at 8pm on @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer."

The programme will be broadcast live from three different locations across the planet: East Coast, USA; the Bahamas; and Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

Charlotte Moore, BBC Director of Content, said: "Blue Planet Live will thrill the millions of viewers who discovered so much from last year's ground breaking series that shocked the nation.

"BBC One continues to lead that conversation as we travel live around the globe to witness first hand the magnificent marine life within our oceans and wake up to one of the biggest environmental crisis of our times."

Viewers will see marine animals breeding and feeding, and get close to turtles, sharks, whales and many more different species.

The series will be exploring the last oceanic frontier that is 'The Deep' live for the first time on television, described as the beating heart of our planet.

And the episodes will revisit some of the key locations and animal characters from Blue Planet II as well as new ones to give a truly global picture of our marine life.

Blue Planet Live begins on Sunday, 24th March on BBC One at 8pm.
