The witches from American Horror Story: The Coven are making a return to the upcoming series, with the show's creator, Ryan Murphy, sharing a snap of the reunion on Twitter.

The horror anthology series will be back on screens next month, with the name being revealed as American Horror Story: Apocalypse earlier this year. Fans already know that it will be a mash up between 2011's Murder House and 2013's Coven.

This means that the witches from the latter mentioned series will be making a comeback in Apocalypse, and there is already a picture capturing the reunion thanks to AHS' creator.

Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks will also be appearing in Apocalypse as one of the fan-favourite witches, with Ryan excitedly adding: "The Coven Returns. What a thrilling night with the legend Stevie Nicks on the set of AHS."

The music legend will be joined by the likes of Sarah Paulson (Cordelia Foxx), Gabourey Sidibe (Queenie), Frances Conroy (Myrtle Snow),Taissa Farmiga (Zoe Benson), Emma Roberts (Madison Montgomery) and Lily Rabe (Misty Day).

Excitement went into overdrive as the picture was shared on Twitter, with one fan exclaiming: "SHOOK OMG CANT WAIT!!"

And another declared: "Iconic already."

The Coven witches are not the only 'iconic' characters making an American Horror Story comeback, as it looks like the new season could see the return of Michael Langdon.

Fans of the show will remember that Michael appeared in Murder House in 2011 as a young boy, only to be later revealed as the Anti-Christ.

But this time around, the not-so-innocent baby is coming back as an adult, and will be played by Cody Fern.

The show's creator once again revealed the news in a tweet, writing: "Excited to announce Cody Fern will be playing the role of Michael Langdon in American Horror Story: Apocalypse. Premiers September 12 on FX."

It's safe to say that it looks like this series of American Horror Story is set to be just as spooky as the seven that have come before it.
