This New Uber Feature Will Let You Tip Your Driver

Despite facing its fair share of criticism this year, Uber's popularity doesn't seem to wavering any time soon. The taxi service is cheap, it's convenient and it lives in our pocket.

One of the key features of the service, which works from a smartphone app, is the ability to rate our drivers and our journeys which can be based on how polite the driver was to how they took to arrive.

Up until now, that rating option has always appeared at the end of the journey, once you have reached your destination. However, new features on the app will now allow users to leave ratings during the trip itself.

This means passengers can leave feedback for their drivers and even leave tips before the journey is even over.

It does sound a bit odd because... well things could be going well one minute and the driver could say something awful!

According to Uber bosses, the new initiative is being brought in in a big to 'recognise top quality drivers and encourage continued outstanding service'.

It is also said that negative feedback will help improve the service and the technology of the taxi service.

You might be thinking how awkward it could be if you're driving along, slagging off your rude driver when your review pops up on their phone... thankfully not.

Although the new function will allow riders to leave reviews and tips right away, the driver won't actually get to see your comments until the journey is over... phew, that could avoid some pretty awkward situations.

It is hoped that the new function will encourage passengers to give genuine feedback rather than rushing when they go back on the app to make another booking.
