The moment a brain-dead child is taken into surgery to donate her organs has been captured on camera in a heartbreaking viral video.

Coralynn Sobolik, 21 months, of New Hampton, Iowa, was given a guard of honour by tearful doctors and nurses before giving her heart, liver and kidneys to help save three other people.

She had been declared brain dead on 29th April 2019, just one day earlier, after suffering a cardiac arrest following a five-day battle with parainfluenza.

In emotional scenes at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, a group gather around in a guard of honour singing 'Amazing Grace.'

Coralynn's devastated mother Meagan, 29, can be heard saying: "I love you forever, you're the best thing that ever happened to me. You get to save three people."

While Coralynn's heart went to a one-year-old boy, her liver was given to a one-year-old girl while her kidneys helped a 41-year-old woman.

"I don't know if there is a word for more than 'phenomenal' but the hospital staff were just that. They treated us as though they were our family.

"It was such a moving moment and I'm so touched that Coralynn managed to touch that many lives," Meagan later explained.

"I'm so grateful that Coralynn's memory can live on. We are overwhelmed by the support we have received from people all over the world. It's great to know our little girl has inspired so many.

"I would encourage everyone to think about organ donation. Whether it's your mother, brother or little one, you have a choice to let their legacy live on. Coralynn now has a legacy that can live on through these three different people," the grieving mother continued.

Coralynn was first taken to hospital after becoming ill and struggling to breathe. Following 25 minutes of CPR, Meagan and partner Paul, 32, were told their daughter had brain damage and later declared brain dead.
