Get Your Summer Clothes Out, Because There’s Going To Be A Massive UK Heatwave

Get Your Summer Clothes Out, Because There’s Going To Be A Massive UK Heatwave

We hope you have nice plans for the weekend, because there's finally going to be a heatwave.

Across the UK, we've been experiencing horrible weather of late, with downpours and chilly temperatures, but according to the Met Office, from the weekend, the sun will finally return.

Unfortunately, though, we'll still have to endure a couple more days of winter in June to get there.

Yellow weather alerts have been issued for today and tomorrow, with warnings that heavy rain could even cause flooding and even lead to this June being the wettest ever recorded.

The weather in recent days has been disastrous, leading to flooding, cancelled trains and motorway closures.

After we get after this rainy patch, summer will truly begin. With pleasant temperatures of around 19C expected this weekend, the weather will just get better and better, with a heatwave hitting the country next week.

According to the Met Office, we can expect glorious temperatures of above 20C every day in London next week, with Wednesday hitting 25C. Finally time to sport those new flip flops.

If you're keen to find out more about the weather, the Met Office posts explanatory videos on its Facebook page.

In a recent video, forecasters explain that the reason we've seen so much rain and unsettled weather in the last couple of days - and can expect so much more of it - is because the jet stream has formed an omega block, which causes a high pressure system sandwiched between two low pressure systems.

The post explains: "The UK is stuck with low pressure, which will continue to feed weather fronts in with pulses of heavy rain throughout this week."

One thing's for sure, we'll definitely complain about the weather no matter what it's like. But while it's still raining, we're very much looking forward to packing away the winter jumpers and getting out the Pimms.
