We all dream of a distant family member coming out of the woodwork and making us rich beyond our wildest dreams.

That's now become a reality for 31-year-old care worker Jordan Adlard Rogers, from Cornwall, who spent several years struggling to prove aristocrat Charles Rogers was his real father.

Jordan, who works as a community support worker, was convinced that Charles was his father and spent years trying to make him take the DNA test. Charles refused, but when he died aged 62 in his car last August, a test was finally carried out - proving that they are indeed related.

Jordan was left as the sole heir to the £50million 1535-acre Penrose Estate, which he has now moved into. He says he is now "immersing himself" in his new way of life and learning more about his newfound family's history.

The site, in Cornwall, has been home to the Rogers family for generations. Jordan said that he has had suspicions that Charles is his father since the age of just eight.

"He offered to do a DNA test when I was younger but it didn't happen,' he said. "And then when I was 18 I knocked on his door and asked if I could have the test and he told me to do it through the solicitors."

As he no longer has to work, Jordan wants to set up a charity to help the local Porthleven and Helston communities. He said: "I've been at the point of worrying about the next bill and have had a tough start in life but now I'm here I want to help people."

He added: "I'm not going to forget where I've come from."

Charles reportedly struggled with drug addiction and died of an overdose in his car on the estate. Jordan is committed to learning more about his father and how his life ended up taking a turn towards his addiction and eventual death. Other charitable plans in his future include putting on a charity garden party in the estate's massive grounds.
