Looking for a little bit of extra holiday cash this summer? Then look no further than your own purse as a Peter Rabbit 50p coin from 2016 could give you a cash injection of thousands.
This year marks 50 years since the seven-sided coin first entered circulation following its launch in 1969 and now a scarcity index has revealed the 59 fifty pence coins that experts deem "rare".
While there's been many variations throughout the years, the Peter Rabbit incarnation appears to be the most valuable to collectors.
In 2016, 9.6 million Peter Rabbit coins were released to mark Beatrix Potter's 150th Birthday and were only circulated in the Lake District and other locations in the UK related to the writer.

The coins were created by designer Emma Noble, who has previously worked on pieces commemorating the Diamond Jubilee and Remembrance Sunday.
In February, one 2016 Peter Rabbit coin sold for £5,000 on eBay making it the most valuable of them all, while another eBay listing saw another sell for £3,200.
And according to The Mirror, the entire 2016 collection is also available in colour and is being traded for upwards of £999.
Collectors are even paying for colour versions of just the Peter Rabbit coin for a whopping £680.

Another notable 50p coin to keep an eye for is The Battle of Britain 50p, which was launched in 2016 to commemorate the 75th anniversary.
There are several versions of the coin, which was released with three different obverse sides, one with the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of the Queen and two with the Jody Clark portrait.
However, a Royal Mint error in production could make a number of them potentially valuable with one recent coin listed for £2,500 on eBay.
