After a successful trial period, National Rail has announced that a 26-30 railcard will be available to purchase by the end of this year.

Everyone who has ever owned the 16-25 railcard will know how much money it can save you on your train travel, and they will also know how devastating it is when you're no longer eligible for those discounts.

However, 26 to 30-year-olds can now enjoy up to a third off rail travel during off-peak.

All 26 to 30-year-olds will be eligible to purchase one, and it will only cost rail users £30 a year.

It will also be the first ever digital railcard, as all customers need to do is purchase online and download onto the app.

You also don't need to worry about having signal, as your railcard will be available offline for 24 hours.

Don't worry about your phone running out of battery either during the journey, as it can be transferred over to any smart device.

Exactly 10,000 26-30 Railcards were released earlier this year as part of a trial, which led to them being rolled out nationwide.

Those taking part in the trial took on average six leisure journeys a month and covered an average of 400 miles.

National Rail said if this trend continues, 26-30 railcard holders will save themselves an average of £125 a year when they travel by train.

Managing Director of Rail Delivery Group, Jacqueline Starr, said: "Britain's rail companies are excited to announce that the National Rail 26-30 Railcard will be available across the country before the end of the year.

"It means more young people can explore Britain for less using our trains and benefit from saving a third on rail travel, making it cheaper to get out and enjoy the seaside or visit family and friends."
