Poundland Banners Full Of Spelling Mistakes Leave Shoppers Confused

When you throw someone a birthday party, you want everything to be perfect, so imagine the surprise of Poundland shoppers who bought "Happy Birthday" banners - only to find they were full of multiple spelling mistakes.

A range of shoppers, who were both disappointed and amused, took to Twitter to post the hilariously-spelled banners, with one writing: "Great 'happy bibthday 'banner we bought from one of your stores for my nephew's 1st birthday!"

It turns out it's not just one banner that was spelt erroneously, but that a whole collection of misspelt birthday banners have been on sale from the value store.

Spelling mistakes ranged from spelling birthday as "birthdday", to even getting happy wrong, spelling it "happ".

Another Twitter user wrote: "Not sure how Poundland managed to survive this long without being able to spell birthday...", while another wrote: "when you buy bunting from Poundland and they can't even spell birthday #awful #gobacktoschool".

One shopper even accused the budget brand of ruining her partner's party, writing: "When Poundland ruin your boyfriends birthday surprise cos they can't spell! #Itried". Another politely complained: "thanks for selling cheap gifts for birthdays! Shame someone in your company can't spell! #birthday #happybirthday".

The banners come in either blue or pink, and cost £1.

Poundland saw the funny side, with a spokesperson quipping to Pretty52: "We think no one says Dappy Dirthday like Poundland... we've spotted the problem and spelt it out to our supplier."

It's not just the birthday banners which are spelt wrong at Poundland, either: fans of the budget store have previously shared photos of Christmas banners spelt "Merrt Christmas", sheep costumes spelt "Sheep Nativiy Costume" and, perhaps most irritatingly of all, a hanging ornament reading: "Dreams: believe you can and your half way there".

Looks like Poundland isn't going to win any spelling bees any time soon...
