We all love it when McDonald's launches a new product. I mean, it just gives us a good reason to get ourselves down to our nearest restaurant to check it out.

Well, from today, 64 of McDonald's 1,270 UK restaurants are adding a bacon double cheeseburger to their menus - and if the product proves to be a hit among customers, it will then get rolled out to
all of
its branches.

So I guess that means we should all probably run out and get one - you know, just to show our support and that.

The true
Maccys
fans will have known that the burger has kind of been available for some time - but only to those in the know. That's right, up until now, if you wanted a double bacon cheeseburger, you had to hack the menu, asking for a standard double cheeseburger before adding bacon at the till.

But now you won't need to tap into this secret, elusive menu, as you can now just stroll up to the counter and pick one up for £1.99.

The burger, which has 495 calories, has two patties and sees two slices of cheese and two rashers of bacon wedged inside the bun. That's all then topped off with the usual suspects of onions, pickles, mustard and ketchup.

The bacon double cheeseburger isn't the only recent change McDonald's has introduced.

One of its more controversial moves saw the size of a regular McFlurry reduced from 170g to 150g - cutting the price from 99p to 89p for the 'core' flavours and from £1.39 to £1.29 for promotional and limited edition flavours.

At the time same time, the fast food chain also introduced a brand new mini version of the McFlurry. This one costs 59p for a 75g - a little under half the size of a regular version - and sees calories are halved from around 320 calories to 150.

A spokesperson said: "By offering smaller portions at a reduced price we are providing our customers with the opportunity to make a choice that is right for them."

The choice to roll out the mini McFlurries nationwide comes after a successful trial - which proves that there's hope for a country-wide roll-out of that rather exciting bacon double cheeseburger.

Fingers crossed, eh?
