A father was shocked to discover his elderly neighbour bought his daughter 14 years of Christmas before he passed away in a selfless act of Christmas kindness.

Owen Williams tweeted about the touching discovery on Monday and Twitter users have had an emotional response and shared their thoughts on when Owen should open the presents.

Neighbour, 87-year-old Ken Watson, had lived near to Owen and Caroline Williams in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales for two years and was "very fond" of their two-year-old daughter Cadi.

Ken died recently and on Monday his daughter came to the Williams' home to deliver the presents. The family were both touched and surprised.

Owen, 40, told the Mirror: "My neighbour's daughter, Jenny, came round last night and knocked on my door. She had a big plastic bag, which I thought was rubbish she was going to ask me to throw out.

"But, to my shock it was a large sack of presents for Cadi, who is only two years-old, for the next 14 years.

"We both welled up at the door because it was a lovely sentiment. It was like something from a Christmas movie.

"He was very fond of Cadi and gave her a Christmas present every year. Her first was a lovely cuddly soft toy, which he bought for the whole street as well.

"I can only assume he was forward planning or he just saw stuff that he thought Cadi would like and bought it at the time. He was a real character and a lovely man."

Owen Tweeted about the moving events on Monday : "Our elderly neighbour passed away recently. His daughter popped round a few moments ago clutching a large plastic sack. In the sack were all the Christmas presents he'd bought for *our* daughter for the next thirteen years."

He tweeted shortly after:

Owen shared snaps of the presents, one of which contained a book that the family couldn't resist opening.

Now the family's torn over whether to open them now and rewrap them or let Cadi open 'a present from Ken' every Christmas until she's 16.

Twitter responded with most encouraging Owen to leave the presents as a surprise. One Twitter user tweeted:

While another encourage Owen to follow Ken's wishes:
