X Factor winner Sam Bailey has revealed she was recently rushed to hospital after she fell from a ladder whilst trying to get into her loft at home.

40-year-old Sam was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary by ambulance on Tuesday, after her husband found her unconscious.

The singer had been getting a suitcase out of the loft in her home, for her daughter who is going on a skiing trip, when she lost her balance and fell to the ground. Sounds nasty.

A spokesperson for Sam said: "Sam had got a suitcase out for her daughter Brooke who is going on a skiing trip.

"The ladders sprang back and hit her and she was knocked out cold. Her husband Craig was there and called the ambulance but Sam was on the floor for about an hour."

Unfortunately, Sam was forced to pull out of her performance as the Enchantress in Beauty and the Beast, however she is now home from hospital and on the mend.

Since the incident, the mum-of-three has taken to Twitter to let her fans know that she is on the mend, and to thank the hospital staff for caring for her.

She wrote: "Thankyou to all the staff and ambulance crew at Leicester royal infirmary x after a scary night I have to say I'm so proud of our nhs staff for all they do!!!"

Sam later admitted that she had been unable to leave the house due to suffering "dizzy spells" and therefore her hairdresser had come to her.

We hope you get well soon, Sam.
