After revealing to fans that she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis on Instagram, Cruel Intentions star Selma Blair has been using the platform to share her journey with the condition, and her words are truly inspiring.

The actress shares constant updates with her 800,000 followers, talking about the realities of living with the life-long condition - and always being a ray of positivity.

MS is a condition which can affect the brain and/or spinal cord, meaning those diagnosed may have problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance.

Selma recently told her followers that she's using a cane to help her get around, and has shared several snaps of her totally owning it to her followers.

And earlier this week, Selma shared a candid Instagram post about the set of anxieties MS has brought along with it.

"There is a truth with neurogedenerative brain disease. It is uncomfortable. It is a stadium of uncontrollable anxiety at times. Going out, being sociable holds a heavy price. My brain is on fire. I am freezing," wrote the actress.

"We feel alone with it even though the loving support has been a god send and appreciated. People write me asking how I do it. I do my best. But I choke with the pain of what I have lost and what I dare hope for. and how challenging it is to walk around."

"But my smiles are genuine. This is ok. Life is an adventure with many shards of awakening."

Her condition means that she has been forced to stop doing things she loves, like riding her beloved horse.

Selma revealed that she had longed to jump on the back of her pony once more, and with the thanks of her trainer, she finally had been able to do it.

"#MrNibbles held my body while I broke open with gratitude. I haven't been able to ride for four months or more. I haven't been able to get to him, so my saint of a trainer, @kjrides brought him to me. It was a fairytale. My horse in my front yard, with more emotions than these words can hold. The gratitude," she posted.

The image showed Selma on her horse, with tears of joy streaming down her face.

It's clear that Selma is still as close as ever with her Cruel Intentions co-star Sarah Michelle Geller as here they are last summer attending a Pink concert together.

Selma shares a seven-year-old son Arthur Saint with ex-partner Jason Bleick, and she often posts about how her MS and being a parent.

And as the Kath & Kim star rang in the new year she vowed to make 2019 the year of Selma.

Sharing a picture of herself in bed, Selma wrote: "One year ago today. I was sicker than hell with a flu so rough it gave me a black eye. And then the flu never really released its hold. I need to let go of some shit for 2019.

"This is gonna be a good year of change. You hear me #2019."
