Princess Diana reportedly claimed that she believed Prince Charles was planning "an accident in [her] car" just months before she died in a car crash.
Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, said that she gave him a handwritten note 10 months before her death expressing concern for her safety as she believed the accident would result in 'brake failure' and 'serious head injury'.
The note, which was published by the Daily Mirror in 2003, read: "I am sitting here at my desk today in October, longing for someone to hug me and encourage me to keep strong and hold my head high.

"This particular phase in my life is the most dangerous - my husband is planning 'an accident' in my car, brake failure and serious head injury in order to make the path clear for him to marry Tiggy.
"Camilla is nothing but a decoy, so we are all being used by the man in every sense of the word."
In Paul's book, A Royal Duty, he claimed that Diana handed him the note as an insurance policy. He claimed that she told him she was going to date it for him to keep 'just in case'.
In 2007, the note was shown at the inquest into her death, where it caused more controversy.

The note was allegedly shown to one of Diana's closest friends, Lucia Flecha, who didn't believe it was genuine, The Telegraph reported.
At the time, she said: "I still don't believe in it. Paul Burrell was perfectly capable of imitating Princess Diana's handwriting. I don't believe she was fearing for her life, especially from Prince Charles, the future king of your country."
Tomorrow (31st August) marks the 21st anniversary of Diana's tragic death, and mystery still surrounds what really happened all those years ago.
