Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex, attended the British Fashion Awards on Monday to present an award to her wedding dress designer Clare Waight Keller, the artistic director of Givenchy.

The former Suits star's simple, one-shouldered dress was believed to be Givenchy.

She paired the gown with gold heels by Tamara Mellon, a gold cuff by Pippa Small and a slick, low bun.

But it was her growing baby bump that the Duchess cradled throughout that really stole the show. The baby is due in spring of 2019.

Many were quick to point out on social media that her dark nail varnish was a break from royal protocol.

In a brief speech before presenting the award Meghan said: "It is such an honour to be here celebrating British fashion and British fashion designers in my new home of the UK."

"As all of you in this room know, we have a deep connection to what we wear, sometimes it's very personal and sometimes it's emotional."

She added: "But for me this connection is rooted in really being able to understand that it's about supporting and empowering each other, especially as women."

Clare gave the duchess a hug as she accepted the award, then told the audience she had to "take a moment" because she was so "shocked."

She also thanked Markle during her speech, saying, "this woman is so amazing."

"I've gotten to know Meghan on such a personal level, and you know, to have someone like that trust you in an incredible moment in their life, is something that is just the most unbelievable honour," Waight Keller said.

Millions around the globe tuned in to watch Meghan tie the knot with Prince Harry at Windsor Castle in May, where she donned Waight Keller's custom gown, made from triple silk organza, featuring an open bateau neckline with three-quarter-length sleeves and a flowing train. The gown was paired with a 16 foot-long veil embroidered with flowers to represent all the countries in the commonwealth.

Kensington Palace revealed that when the Meghan fist met the artistic director of Givenchy she requested a dress with an "elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanour".

It is said to have cost £387,000.
