Jameela Jamil Has The Perfect Response To Claims She's 'Too Thin' To Support Body Positivity

Actress Jameela Jamil has hit back at critics who claim she is 'too thin' to campaign for body positivity.

The Good Place star, 32, has spoken out many times on social media about the need for healthier body images in the media - and has called out companies that present unrealistic body types.

But addressing concerns that she should not be taking such a prominent role, Jameela posted a lengthy note on Twitter for "anyone who feels uncomfortable that a slim woman is fighting body shaming as hard as I am".

She said: "It's not only because of my extensive experience with public fat shaming from the press, eating disorders and disability as a teen, but also because I want change for all.

"This is not me trying to steal your movement. It's me trying to kick the gates open for it."

Jameela added that this message was particularly addressed to plus-size black women, who "are so left out of this conversation".

"It's my bad for not having understood your plight and fought harder with you sooner. It was ignorance, not a lack of care. I stand with you now and forever."

This comes just days after Beauty brand Avon pulled an advertising campaign after being called out on Twitter by the actress.

The US marketing campaign for a product to remove cellulite and stretch marks carried the slogan: "Dimples are cute on your face (not on your thighs)" along with the hashtag '#NakedProof'.

Jameela wrote online: "EVERYONE has dimples on their thighs, I do, you do, and the CLOWNS at @Avon_UK certainly do. Stop shaming women about age, gravity and cellulite. They're inevitable, completely normal things. To make us fear them and try to 'fix' them, is to literally set us up for failure."
