Gogglebox star June Bernicoff revealed she hosted her first dinner party without her late husband Leon Bernicoff in an emotional Twitter post on Sunday.

Leon sadly passed away just two days before Christmas last year, breaking hearts up and down the country. The Gogglebox favourites had been happily married for 60 years.

Taking to their joint Twitter account on Sunday evening, June shared: "Hope you all had a good weekend, I did! Entertained very good friends for dinner!!

"First time on my own!!"

June went on to reveal that she'd enjoyed chicken, ham, salad and roast vegetables, before indulging on apple and cinnamon crumble with lashings of cream on the side with some of Leon's oldest friends and family.

"As Leon said '[life] is for living' and it was his very best & oldest friend & family [sic]!" explained June. "I bought Malbec for tonight. [Our] film crew introduced Leon to it & he loved it too [sic]!!"

Replying directly to a fan, she added: "He would have made sure the bottle of 'red' was empty!!"

The couple's 283k followers rushed to send kind messages of support, following the emotional milestone for June.

"I'm sure Leon featured heavily in the conversation - can't help but feel that lovely man of yours ensured you never run out of tales to tell! Glad you enjoyed your evening June," tweeted one person.

And another echoed: "Hope you had a lovely time June, i feel like Leon is with always and with you in spirit, so your never on your own [sic]."

June recently opened up about life without Leon during a TV appearance on This Morning, saying that writing a book had kept her busy.

She told the show's hosts: "At first it was just the sadness and you just remember the last few days when he was really ill," before reminiscing "about the the fun to be had and then the growing and my families".
