Celebrities and parents have taken to social media to share pictures of them kissing their children on the lips in support of David Beckham.

The dad-of-four shared a picture on Tuesday of himself and his daughter, Harper, kissing one other on the lips, which sparked a furious debate.

Some of his followers called the picture 'wrong', with one follower commenting: "I don't care what anyone says if a dad kisses a child on the lips it's completely wrong smd."

Piers Morgan also branded the footballer 'weird' for kissing his daughter on the lips.

However, most of Beckham's followers defended the show of affection and described it as 'completely natural'.

One supporter wrote: "I think it's a cute pic. I assume all daddies have kissed their daughters like that. It's not like it's a full blown snog people!"

Fellow celebrities have also been taking to Instagram to share pictures of them kissing their children.

Singer Frankie Bridge shared a video of her kissing one of her sons on the lips with the caption: "I've always kissed my kids on the lips and that will continue until they naturally don't want to just like it naturally happened with me and my parents and there's and so on and so on".

Vogue writer Jamie Day also shared an adorable photo of him kissing his daughter with the caption: "Woh there! A father kissing his daughter on the lips! So weird, right? Wrong.

"How such an innocent display of affection gets twisted says so much more about those who find it weird than it does about those of us who don't think twice about showing affection to our children... Pucker up Edie!"

Other parents also decided to share some cute snaps of them showing their kids some affection in support of the Beckhams.

The couple have been extremely open in the past about kissing their kids on the lips and why they do it.

David previously said: "I kiss all my kids on the lips.

"Brooklyn maybe not. Brooklyn is 18, so he might find that a little strange, but I'm very affectionate with the kids. It's how I was brought up - and Victoria - and it's how we are with our children.

"We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them and support them."
