Ant McPartlin 'Expected To Plead Guilty' To Drink-Driving Charge

Ant McPartlin is expected to 'plead guilty' when he appears in court today charged with drink-driving.

The Saturday Night Takeaway star will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court today, after he was charged with the offence on 21 March.

Ant was arrested on 18 March when his Mini Cooper was involved in a three-car smash in West London.

It is said that a roadside breathalyser proved Ant was twice the legal alcohol limit at the time of the crash.

The 42-year-old checked himself back into rehab following the incident, after spending last summer in a rehabilitation centre for a painkiller addition.

A friend of Ant's told The Sun: "He knows he has to face the music. The plan at this stage is for him to plead guilty. He is obviously gutted about the whole thing and wants to focus on getting better.

"He has a lot to do to prove himself again. Hopefully this is the first step."

Ant was initially due to appear in court on 4 April, however it was adjourned after the star re-entered rehab.

Since the incident, Ant has stepped down from all of his hosting duties including Saturday Night Takeaway and Britain's Got Talent.

Ant's BGT co-star Simon Cowell has recently told how he will 'stand by' Ant, while praising him for 'manning up' after his arrest.

Simon said: "We have known each other a long time and you stand by the people you have worked with over the years. The most important thing is he has manned up. He is going to get himself back together.

"This is what happens, it is happening to people all over the world. People, for whatever reason get into a rut and times like this you stand by your mates. It has always been that way.

"But the show goes on, it's a simple as that."
