Women Have Three Times Less 'Me Time' Than Men And Why Aren't We Surprised?

Women Have Three Times Less 'Me Time' Than Men And Why Aren't We Surprised?

Ever feel like life is so busy that you don't have time to stop? Well, it turns out so does the rest of the female population.

Women are known for our multi-tasking, but a new study has shown we're so busy that we're not even allowing ourselves an hour's worth of 'me time' a week.

According to research conducted on 2,000 British women between the age of 21-55 by vitamin brand Pink Cloud Beauty Co, a woman spends just 48 minutes relaxing in a week.

In contrast, men get 114 minutes - or almost two hours - of free time to unwind.

The findings don't stop there, as they also reveal that 91 per cent of women feel stressed by their commitments, while over a third still feel like they're not getting enough done, despite barely stopping for a breath.

This will come as no surprise to many women after it was revealed by UCL earlier this year that they do 20+ hours of housework a week in comparison to to a man's 5+.

They also found that this was even the case in families where the woman was the breadwinner - we really are superhuman!

After examining 8,500 different sex couples, they determined that only six per cent of men contributed the same amount at home, or exceeded their partner.

This highly gendered 'unpaid labour' is not a new issue, after the Office Of National Statistics first highlighted it in 2015, stating that women carried out on average 60 per cent more additional tasks than men.

It's also been linked heavily to the gender pay gap, as women are frequently unable to work overtime because of their additional responsibility in the home.

Of course, these statistics don't apply to all families - but they do highlight the discrepancy which still exists in some parts of society today.

So come on ladies, who fancies striking until things get a bit more balanced?
