Tinder's New Festival Feature Will Let You Pre-Plan Your Event Hookups

Festival season is well and truly upon us, which means only one thing - festival hookups are just around the corner. Of course, sometimes it's hard to meet people when you're already at the festival - how do you know who's single? Or who you have anything in common with? To make things easier, Tinder has launched a new in-app "experience" called Festival Mode.

Festival Mode will allow music fans to add a badge to their profile showing their next planned music festival destination. That will give them the ability to match and chat with other attendees up to three weeks before the big day - meaning that you can secure your Festi-beau a whole 21 days before you even pitch your tent.

In 2018, Tinder report that they noticed a huge surge in app use during the festival season, with Tinder app registrations increasing by 36 times during Lovebox and app activity increasing by 25 per cent at British Summer Time Festival. The feature will roll out at festivals across the UK, US and Australia in partnership with AEG and Live Nation starting from 1st May

The feature will kick off with All Points East on 24th May, for further participating UK dates see below, before heading to Parklife on 6th June, British Summer Time on 12th July and Lovebox also on 12th July.

On the new feature, CMO of Tinder Jenny Campbell said: "It's no secret that Tinder is a must-have app for singles attending music festivals around the world. We consistently see a spike in Tinder use as tens of thousands of music fans come together, so we wanted to create a new experience that makes it easier to connect with other concert-goers before even setting foot on festival grounds".

She added: "We've partnered with some of the biggest names in the entertainment and events industry to make that happen, and we couldn't be more excited to help Tinder users find their crowd during these events for the rest of 2019."

Tinder is the biggest dating app in the world, so it makes sense that it's the one many of us whack out at festivals to try and meet some new people. How this new feature will pan out remains to be seen (what if someone ghosts you within those three weeks?) but it's definitely an interesting development.
