A wedding guest has sparked a huge debate online after revealing she planned to wear a white dress to her friend's wedding.

Anyone who's familiar with the long list of rules and regulations that seemingly come with attending a wedding will know that wearing white is pretty much top of the list, but in 2019, does it really matter?

Well, according to lots of people on the internet, the answer is absolutely yes it does matter.

The wedding guest in question revealed that she's planning to wear white to her mate's wedding and not just that, the gown is floor length and made from lace...a hat trick of wedding offences.

The woman couldn't look more bridal, and it's likely to cause a stir - which it already is on "wedding-shaming" Facebook group "That's It, I'm Wedding Shaming".

The group, which is dedicated to "shaming weddings and things related to weddings", is a space for users to laugh about "cringe-worthy weddings".

She took to social media to ask for advice on her outfit, saying: "Ladies, can I get some hair and makeup suggestions for this dress? I'm attending a destination wedding next week."

Someone reposted the Facebook post in the group but whether or not the post was a joke remains to be seen, as the dress looks suspiciously exactly like a wedding dress.

The user who shared the post wrote: "SHE'S A GUEST, NOT THE BRIDE" and people took no time to express their horror at her outfit, saying that it was "so wrong to wear to someone else's wedding" and that the bride would be within her rights to have the guest escorted out.

Another added, "HELL NO. If she attends a wedding in that, she better expect to be immediately escorted out." Some got more to the point, writing "this is a f***ing wedding dress." and accusing her of being malicious.

"Bride should be the only one in floor length white." another added, with some having slightly less relevant concerns like the amount of cleavage that the dress showed. The post has since been inundated with comments by horrified users posting in the closed Facebook group, with nobody seemingly coming to the woman's defence.

This hardcore stance on wearing white to someone else's wedding is pretty old school, but weddings are full of tension and old-fashioned values - it makes sense that everyone would take this so seriously.
