Over a third of British adults still sleep with a cuddly toy at night, according to the findings of a new survey.

Even more surprisingly, the results indicate that 15 per cent can't even fall to sleep without their teddy bear by their side.

The survey of 2,000 Brits, which was commissioned by Hotpoint for the launch of a new washing machine, also found that 17 per cent still cuddle a soft toy whenever they feel upset.

And a total of nine per cent said they would rather share a bed with their cuddly toy than their own partner, as reported by Metro.

That's not it either, as almost half (44 per cent) of the nation have kept hold of their dolls and toys, according to the results, with 40 per cent saying their childhood bedroom still plays home to some or all of their old toys.

Five per cent said their childhood bedroom is exactly the same as it always was as a kid and it has never changed.

What's more, 11 per cent of British adults even confessed to taking a soft toy on holiday with them, with five per cent having taken it to the office with them. Hopefully that was during a 'bring your toy to work day'...

It seems like we are super fond of our cuddly toys and they hold a *very* special place in our hearts, too.

Almost a quarter of those surveyed said they were "devastated" after they lost or misplaced a soft toy.

Here, it was found that men felt the grief of losing a childhood toy more than women.

A total of 21 per cent said they felt like they had lost a best friend, whereas only 19 per cent of women said they felt this way if they'd misplaced a toy.

Mind blowing stuff.
