Man Claims Women Only Use 7 Tampons Per Period And We're Not Having It

The anonymous man reckons women only need to spend up to £20 a year on sanitary products, too.

Who better to wade in on the debate over free sanitary products than a man who's never experienced menstruation in his life? Of course, we're kidding - but that's exactly what one man did while trying (and spectacularly failing) to calculate the average cost of a monthly period.

He did have a pretty good go at working out how much a period costs, but as hundreds of women pointed out, his calculations were way off when he suggested that women go through just seven tampons per period. We wish.

Twitter

"So, the average period is between 10-35ml of blood, each tampon holds about 5ml, so 7 tampons per cycle," he wrote on Facebook post which has since been shared - and deeply ridiculed - on Twitter.

He continued: "Lets be generous and say 10 for those ladies with an extra juice uterine lining." Oh you generous, generous man.

"9 periods per year = 90 tampons max," erm, yeah. We're kind of struggling with this one, seeing as we can't pick and choose which months we fancy having a period, and last time we checked there's 12 months in a year.

He kept on going: "You can get a 64 pack on Amazon for £7.90 plus shipping. Buy two packs, save on shipping and have 128 tampons for the year, that's about £20 here on there for a year's periods."

The unnamed man finished his rant with: "Cut down on your Starbucks venti frapps and stop whining. This isn't a first world problem."

Okay, so with a help of some very dodgy maths, he came to the conclusion women can spend just £20 a year on tampons. We'd love to argue with him, but luckily, the wonderful women of Twitter have already given him a bit of a mouthful.

Thank you, women of the internet.
