We all know that a dog is a man's best friend, so when 14-year-old German Pointer, Wilson, was diagnosed with terminal bladder and stomach cancer, his heartbroken owners weren't going to let him go without one hell of a party.
Making sure that Wilson knew exactly how much he was loved, his family - made up of Stephen, Christen, Johan and Noah Rampersad - planned a whole weekend of activities, kicking off with a boat launch where he could splash around pain-free in the water thanks to the aid of medication from his dog.
Creating his very own take-your-dog-to-work day, Wilson enjoyed the next day at firefighter Stephen's station, while he also enjoyed car rides, trips to the shops and long family walks.
During one trip the beach, the lucky pup was even treated to a slap-up meal of a burger and fries, a whole plate of bacon and an entire bowl of vanilla ice-cream before the restaurant staff smothered him with hugs and cuddles.
"It was very important to me that the staff at Shaggy's received the recognition they deserve for being so kind to Wilson," Stephen told Pretty52. "They went out of their way to give him lots of love and attention on his last day."
"It made my heart happy in a time of stress and pain to see him get the love and attention from not only his family but so many strangers."
"Wilson was just over-the-top excited about it all," he also told The Sun. "Every time food came up, his ears would perk up."
It was after Wilson's last meal that he was taken to the vets to be put down, where he passed away peacefully in Stephen's arms.
The Rampersad family have since been extremely touched by the kindness that everyone has shown since Wilson's death, telling how people have been offering donations to animal charities in Wilson's memory.

Stephen told Pretty52: "There has been an overwhelming response of love and support along with people making donations in his honour to the Humane Society and other pet related organisations."
