Britain Set For Warm Spell With Sunshine And 15C Temperatures

Things could be about to get a little warmer as forecasters are predicting that sunshine and 15C temperatures are on their way to Britain from today.

Temperatures will reportedly hit the mid-teens in the south of England and 12C in Scotland by Valentine's Day on Thursday this week.

On average, temperatures can range between 1C to 7C for this time of the year, so you might ditch your winter woolies by the end of the week.

While it might be dry in the south of the country, there still might be outbreaks of rain in Scotland and Ireland according to forecasters.

"Outbreaks of rain for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland will edge southwards but fragment," the Met Office told The Sun. "Meanwhile, the southern half of England and much of Wales will remain largely dry, with some sunshine in the south and east. A mild day."

And Met Office meteorologist Sophie Yeomans added: "Through this week were seeing more settled weather because we've got high pressure and that's bringing the air up from the south west and that's bringing us the milder temperatures.

"I think we could even go up to 15C in some of the days depending how cloudy it is.

"If we get some sunshine, we could see those highs in the south west of England."

However, it seems like the warmer weather will be short lived as forecasters believe that the cold could be returning again.

John Hammond from Weathertrending said: "Southern and eastern areas are most prone to a continental chill from February 18, with an ongoing chance easterly winds will bring much colder air towards us."

Despite it getting close to spring, other forecasters are predicting that the 'beast from the east' could return with snow meaning you might not want to put your scarves and gloves away just yet!
