Mothers around the world are just finding out what the red lines are for on Pampers nappies, and it's blowing their minds.

And no, before you say it, it's not to add a unique design to the baby's nappy. It actually serves as a very important purpose, that could stop you and your child from some very messy accidents.

According to Pampers' official website, the red lines (or sometimes blue, depending on which brand you've bought) are actually there for measurement, to help you decide whether or not your baby needs to go up a size in the nappy department.

Writing on their website, the company said: "The tapes should be fastened symmetrically on the coloured landing zone (waist band) Pampers nappies have flexible sides which adapt to the baby's shape and movement.

Size is a huge part of finding the right nappy fit for your baby. As you know, babies come in all different shapes and sizes. And just like clothing, nappies fit every baby differently. At Pampers we measure thousands of babies' legs, bottoms and waists to try to get that right."

So there we go! When changing your little bundle of joy, make sure you're being cautious of the 'coloured landing zone' and that you're definitely putting the right size on your baby.

After all, we don't want them to suffer with any chafing, and red marks, and we're sure you don't want to suffer with any accidental leaks, if er... you know what I mean.
