The New Venom Trailer Looks Like The Most Violent Marvel Movie Yet
Another trailer for the forthcoming Venom movie has just landed, and it looks set to be even creepier than you could have ever imagined...
Due to be released in the US on 5th October, the film sees Tom Hardy step into the shoes of the titular supervillain - formerly known as disgraced reporter Eddie Brock, who gets infected by an alien parasite called a symbiote, which requires a host to live.
It won't be a part of the famed Marvel Cinematic Universe - which includes the Avengers, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther and Ant-Man films - and instead will form part of Sony's separate Marvel Universe.
The first trailer was released back in February, but while it certainly piqued our interest, it certainly wasn't giving too much away about what we could all expect from the film.
It then wasn't until April that we finally saw Tom's highly anticipated transformation into Venom on camera, and it gave us all chills. Those teeth. And that tongue. It's the stuff of nightmares.
But thanks to this latest trailer, we're being given even more to whet our appetite.
Take this blink-and-you-miss-it moment, for instance:
Still no signs of Carnage, though, who was rumoured to appear in the film, played by Woody Harrelson.
Earlier this year Tom opened up about the reason behind his choice to snap up the role - which you'd expect was purely because he knew just how good a role it would be, but is actually much more sentimental than you'd probably expect.
Turns out, it's actually because Tom's son is a huge fan of the comic book character.
In an interview with Variety at San Diego Comic-Con, the actor said: "First and foremost I'm a dad and so one of the things you come across as a father often is a massive influx of stories often brought to you after Fireman Sam."
He continued: "My son came to me with a specific character that he absolutely fell in love with and then I started to take a look at it myself and then, as if by magic, a script appeared on the horizon which was awesome.
"Having done Dark Knight [Rises] with Chris [Christopher Nolan], I'd kind of done my superhero bit in some aspects.
"But when I was presented with the opportunity to play Venom, and that correlated with my son's love for Venom and how cool he was, I got really really excited and decided that I really wanted to do it."
That's very sweet and all, but judging from the trailer, Tom's kid might need a big hug after seeing his dad like this...
