The Next Season Of Game Of Thrones Will Be The 'Bloodiest' Yet

The Next Season Of Game Of Thrones Will Be The 'Bloodiest' Yet

If you thought that Game Of Thrones couldn't kill anymore characters off, then you might want to think again.

Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in the hit show (at least, she does for now, they'll probably kill her off too), has teased some new information in an interview.

Speaking to Gold Derby, she said: "It's going to be bloodier and more death and more emotionally torturous than all the years before!"

Oh dear.

Shooting of the eighth and final season is just about finished now, with the six feature-length episodes airing next year.

There's so much pressure on the show to deliver an ending that won't p*ss everyone off, although that hasn't stopped the script-writers in the past.

There was the Red Wedding, "hold the door", head squashing, back-stabbing, front-stabbing, dragon fire, poison, wildfire, suicide, beheadings, and being eaten by a pack of dogs, all of which upset a lot of viewers.

A 'death count' by the Washington Post has shown a massive spike in deaths as the seasons have gone on.

From just 59 in the first season, to 246 in season five and 540 in season six, things have got bloodier and deadlier as the story has evolved.

Last year, the pace of the programme suddenly picked up, with characters jumping about Westeros in the blink of an eye.

Sophie's confirmed that this will bring everything to a head in the new year.

She continued: "I can tell you that there's definitely a coming together of people. Everyone is coming together to fight the impending doom. There's a lot of tension between these little groups, battling for what they think is right."

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jamie Lannister (a character who's lost all three of his children as well as a hand), said that the new series will be: "Surprising. Enormous. Heartbreaking."

When asked for three more words, he said: "Satisfying, shocking, and... heartbreaking, again." Awesome.

At the end of the last season, we learned of Jon Snow's heritage (something most people had already worked out), and saw him hooking up with Daenerys, who is technically his aunt.

We also saw The Wall collapse at the hands of the Night King for the first time in 8000 years.

It would appear that the battle for the throne is the least of our worries now. Reckon you can handle it?
